Bristol's Badass Burlesque Show

Send NYC Some Love!

With New York being the home of so many of our beautiful and talented friends and colleagues,  it was hard to watch the devastation Hurricane Sandy beat down on the East Coast. Wanting to help, but not knowing where to start I asked New Yorker, Performer and all around badass, Legs Malone where our assistance could best be sent. Below are her suggestions, I hope you’ll consider donating.

Legs Malone (c) Don Spiro

Coney Island USA

Their building was inundated with several feet of water and as a result of the damage, they are closed until next spring at the earliest. The building sustained major damage and they are in urgent need of donations.

Occupy Sandy Relief

This is an amazing website and resouce set up by the same people who do Occupy Wall Street. They are the sole relief organization in many of the low-income and devastated neighborhoods where the Red Cross is completely absent. This includes the Rockaways, Red Hook, Gerritsen Beach, Sea Gate, Coney Island and more. You can see their extensive efforts on the website and in this New York Times article that talks about their outreach and impact.

Occupy Wedding Registry

This is a “wedding” registry set up by the Occupy folks which enables anyone with a computer to donate badly needed supplies that get delivered straight to the areas of need. Very cool!

Brooklyn Bridge

These are three great places to start and any and all help is deeply appreciated!!

PS. If you are in New York, please check out Legs Malone and World Famous *BOB*’s workshop, Loving the Body You’re In. You can read more about it here. TL
